Bering Sea weather will destroy cheap electronics in a week. We mounted a few of these on the open flybridges of our crab boats to use as radar and sonar repeaters, and they’ve taken an absolute beating. Heavy rain, saltwater spray, freezing temps—they just keep working. You just wipe the salt off and the touch screen is as responsive as ever. The waterproof connectors are very well made too. Great build quality, planning to retrofit the rest of the fleet with these next season.
Outfitted a couple of survey boats in San Diego with these last month. The deck environment is constantly wet and salty, so the waterproofing was a must-have. I'm really impressed by how snappy the touch response is, even when we're bouncing around in the chop trying to tap on our survey software. The standard VESA mounts on the back made installation on our custom brackets a breeze. It’s exactly what you want for a rugged marine setup, highly recommend it.
We do navigation upgrades for commercial workboats down here in Miami, and the Florida sun is no joke. The 1500 nits on this display is legit—we run OpenCPN on it as a secondary monitor, and you can read the charts perfectly in direct sunlight on the open deck without having to squint or shade it with your hand. The metal casing is super solid, not that cheap consumer-grade plastic. The IP67 rating is a must for us, and this thing delivers. Saves us a ton of support calls.
